Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of Phill. They are written in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email support@phillmybasket.com and ask.

Who you are agreeing with

Phill is operated by PHILL LTD, registered in England & Wales, company number 17365809, registered office 6 Westbourne Drive, Wilmslow, SK9 2GY. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Using Phill

Food allergies and dietary requirements. Please read this one.

Phill filters recipes against the diet you choose and checks every ingredient rather than relying on a recipe's label. We have put real work into that and we take it seriously.

It is still not a substitute for reading the packet. Phill knows what a recipe asks for; it cannot see what is in the specific product on your shelf, whether something was made in a factory that also handles nuts, or whether a manufacturer has changed a recipe since. Where Phill cannot be confident, it tells you it cannot match something instead of guessing — but the final check is always yours.

If you have a serious allergy or a medical dietary requirement, do not rely on Phill alone. Read the label on every product, every time. Phill is a planning tool, not medical or nutritional advice.

When Phill's AI writes something

Phill uses AI to write cooking methods, read your fridge photos, turn recipes into cards and chat with you. It's handy and usually right, but it can get things wrong. Use your own judgement in the kitchen: cook meat, poultry, fish and eggs until they're properly done and piping hot, follow the pack's instructions where they differ, and check the label for allergens every time. If something Phill says doesn't look right, trust the packet and let us know.

Prices, and what Phill does not do

If you shop from your list, Phill may earn a small commission. It never changes what I suggest or which pack I pick.

Put plainly: some links to shops are tracked, and if you buy after following one, the shop may pay us a small percentage. It costs you nothing extra. Commission plays no part in which recipes Phill suggests or which pack size it picks; that's there to cut waste. What does shape suggestions is whether a shop can supply the ingredients. Phill holds back a recipe it can't find in stock, so you're not left with a half-filled basket.

If we ever show a paid or sponsored placement, it'll be clearly labelled as an ad, right where you see it.

Your content

Your plan, your kitchen and the photos you take of it are yours. You give us permission to process them in order to run the service, and nothing more — we do not sell them and we do not use your photos or kitchen contents for advertising. The Privacy Notice sets out exactly what is stored, what is sent where, and how to get it deleted.

A recipe you import still belongs to whoever wrote it. Phill keeps a private copy in your account so you can plan, shop and cook from it, and nobody else sees it. From a link, Phill takes the ingredients and quantities, writes the method in its own words and always links back to the original. When you share an imported recipe, Phill sends the ingredients and that link, not the author's method. We never copy a site's photos, and we don't read sites that ask apps not to. Please only import recipes you are entitled to use.

Wrote a recipe and want it out of Phill? Email support@phillmybasket.com with your site or recipe. We'll stop Phill importing from your site within 7 days.

Helping Phill learn is optional. Agreeing to these terms does not let us keep your scan photos or use them to train anything. That only happens if you separately switch on "Help Phill read fridges better" in Account, which you can switch off at any time, and Phill works the same either way. The Privacy Notice explains what's kept, why, for how long and how it's deleted.

Early access

Phill is early. Features will change, some will be removed, and there will be bugs. We may change or withdraw parts of the service, and we will tell you if something changes that you rely on.

Where our responsibility ends

Phill is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable for a meal that did not work out, an estimate that differed from a shop's price, or a retailer's order going wrong.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Changes to these terms

If we change anything that matters, we'll update the date at the top and tell you in the app before it applies. Carrying on using Phill after that means you are happy with the change.
